Wonderful West Wales

It doesn't seem like we have been here a week. Nestled in our holiday cottage Penally on Penlon Farm run by Gari & Debbie Burdett. The setting is in the village of Pontgarreg with a walk up to the top of their fields that holds the most breath taking views.

I'm sitting in the lounge pictured above trying to get motivated to finish packing.
Remembering some of the fantastic sunsets we have seen this week.
We have only travelled about 12 miles in each direction from our cottage. The journeys down the little lanes always leaves you wanting more, from picturesque cottages, wild flowers & sea views.

We have spent much of our time at the little hide away beach Cwm tydu. Wow!!!
You have got to see it for yourself. There is a free car park & a small car park by the little cafe which is £1. Toilet facilities are basic but clean.
We have kayaked from here most days. Great launching on sandy beach. No dangerous currents and good paddling both ways out of the bay. We have seen a seal, which was about 20ft away from us, most days.
The incoming tide waters can be a bit choppy, but I managed it.

Cwm Tydu beach.
We enjoyed a great beach BBQ and made sure we left no mess.  PLEASE clean any beach after your visit & leave only footprints.

New Quay is just along the coast. We spent a lovely evening enjoying Fish & Chips from one of the many offering this tasty delight. We chose the second one as you walk down from the car park on the seafront. It is next to the supermarket and was beautifully cooked.

This little devil was only to keen to help us devour our tasty meal!

The little seaside village Llangrannog holds a produce market every Wednesday. We saw a great friend John from Teifi Cheeses which was no surprise as he is based a few miles away and is available to visit. His cheeses are amazing and have won world awards.

The oldest church in Caerdigion is in the village and well worth a visit. There are also several Geocaches in the area as well as the most amazing Ice Cream which is hand made in the little cafe on the seafront. It boasts in having 20 most delicious flavours. My favourite was the peanut butter. 01239 654502 Caffi Patio.

Another jewel is Mwnt. The Saints church is set on the headland ahe base of a large hill. The following photos show the church & graves.

Isn't it beautiful. The white of the building is so stark against the blue sky

The graves outside are equally amazing.
The stonework is exceptional.

We climbed to the top of the hill, the view was spectacular. Even my mum made it. At 73 she was so proud.

This is the view from the top

This is the climb up.

Here we are at the top

Our final day we went back to Llangarog and took theses photos of St Crannog who looks out over the bay

St Crannog.

The next photo is a fantastic use of old railway carriages for tourist accomodation

Then it was back to Cwm Tydu beach for the last bit of holiday sun & kayaking before we said the sad goodbyes and set off for home

I hope you have enjoyed my blog & perhaps you will get to visit for yourself.

Thank Crunchie for Friday

Hidy Hi Cheesies. What a funny looking sky here this morning. I just hope it improves for Chepstow show tomorrow Which is being held on Chepstow race course for the first time in years, at least it should be a little bit drier underfoot compared to the field where the show has usually been taking place. The towns Garden competition was judged last night & I met the judges from the Secret Garden, just as we were leaving to go to my brother Kev's.  I'm not sure what they will make of my little patch, but it's good fun to enter.
We had a smashing evening with my Brother at Llandogo. His wife Renska cooked sea bass which just melted in your mouth, Kevin made fresh raspberry individual pavlovas, which just danced on your tongue, slowly sipped with a glass of full bodied red wine.  Kev has just undergone the first of 2 hip replacements at the age of 50. He is doing well & has the second at the end of September. He has been a Marine, & always looked after himself & worked out, so not sure why this has happened
This weekend makes 40 days working on the trot without a break we're absolutely cream crackered and looking forward to next week which is full of exciting developments. BUT FIRST ON SUNDAY, I'm off fishing to Grange Springs near  Chepstow, WOOHOO!.  On Tuesday and we're off to Salisbury to visit my sister Victoria who is flying in for a short break from Penang Island I haven't seen my sister for 2 years so I'm really really excited about Tuesdays events. we're going from Wales as a big gang, myself and Gerry and our big gang from Wales  will spend a day playing and having fun with my sister Victoria, Brendan, Kimberly & Ryleigh in auntie Jayne's field. We will have a barbecue and play all sorts ofl games This coming Thursday sees the first birthday of our little grandson Theo James.
He wanted a garden swing for his birthday so eBay has  just informed me it's been shipped and is on its way and should be delivered in time for daddy to put up in the garden on his birthday.  We also have to take bikes down to Abergavenny for the green man festival, Apparently there is a special eco-tent which is being powered totally by pedal power that is where our bikes come in. In exchange for lending the festival our bikes we have been given tickets to full access to the green man festival from Friday till Sunday, so I think a whole gang of us are off to see Ben Howard on Sunday evening how exciting is that.

The Witching Hour

Hidy hi Cheesies, it seems to be that time again, when I can't sleep!
Snuggled in my comfy bed at Crystal Palace Caravan Club Site, listening to the gentle hum in the background of the London traffic nattering on to you lot.
We have been to London to represent Wales at the Real Food Market on Southbank for St Davids Day. Personally I am going to look for another Pagan festival to celebrate in the summer mint he's because March is so terribly cold.
We were pitched next door to our young friend 'T' from Samosaco.(I call him the Prince of Persia) because he looks just like the Prince of the game.
Samosaco is a family run business in Cardiff , who make the most amazing Indian food: baked samosa's, onion Bhajee's and the worlds first Onion Bhajee scotch eggs, which are delicious😜.
The Real food market is held weekly from Friday to Sunday and is a mix of tantalising street food from around the world.
I met a young lady from Horn Ok Please who introduced Gerry & I to her Indian Street Food . Cooked fresh to order it was mouthwateringly good, with a mixture of spices. Colours & textures & best of all Gluten free.
It was great to be back in London again, meeting old customers & making new ones. I was surprised at how few Londoners watched the new series on ITV which went out prime time TV last Wednesday; Food Glorious Food in which 4 judges searched for Britain's Best Dish. I starred in the first episode & despite much twittering about it did not hold much interest in the Capital city.
Well it's back home tomorrow to my son Terence whom I have t seen for 6 weeks. He has been in Malaysia for 6 weeks staying with my sister Victoria & family. I have just enough time to re pack my case & then it's off to Euro Disney in Paris to represent Wales at the St Davids Day Festival out there. I have orders to take to Paris for customers we have met during the last 4 years trading at the event. We are provided with a chalet in the Disney Village & trade from 4-10pm. The rest of the time I get to play😁
We come back from Disney on the 12th March & fly off on holiday to Cran Canaria on the 16th for 2 weeks holiday.
Staying at the Teurito Princess, booked through First Choice, it's a fantastic beachside location. Hotel & food are in my opinion worth 5*
Lots of swimming & fishing, relaxation & exploring before we start our summer shows.

It's Raining- again

Well Cheesies, as 2012 draws to a close, we have enjoyed yet another thrilling wet Christmas. Our first week off work & it's been too wet to do anything except book our holiday for March.
After taking my first flight in June, you guessed it, no more washed out British Holidays. As Lady Cheddar, working so hard for my subjects during the year, I need some warm water to swim in, fishing in sunshine & generally to wake up & feel warm.
So we're off to Gran Canaria; Puerto Terito for 2 glorious weeks & then looking at Symi for 2 weeks In October.
Going into work today to do accounts.
